Early Help Strategy

(including Next Steps for 2014 – 2016)

The Early Help Strategy outlines our ambition for early help services for children and families, and the principles that guide us. It explains the strategic framework within which the services have been designed, and how we organise them. It describes the delivery of those services, and the priorities for developing them further over the years 2014-2016. Finally, it sets out the arrangements for monitoring their effectiveness.

Appendices contain greater detail on recent progress in delivering early help in York, how we have ensured that the voice of the child has driven the design of services, and detailed monitoring measures.

The core elements of the Early Help Strategy focus on:

  • Knowing which children need extra help; no child will slip through the net;
  • No Wrong Door; signposting and ensuring access to help and services;
  • Emphasising the child’s voice and influence; the journey of the child through local arrangements;
  • Integrated strategy, process, practice and delivery
  • Knowing that we are making a difference.
