York Open Service Directory Terms and Conditions

This page is aimed at people who have their details listed with York Open Service Directory. It gives more detail about how the information is handled and what to do if you have any questions or queries.

Services and Childcare

These Terms and Conditions relate to services and childcare held within the York Open Service Directory. The York Open Service Directory is maintained by York Family Information Service which is part of City of York Council.

We may change these terms at any time, we will notify you of changes in the terms and conditions by email and via the York Open Service Directory website (LINK).

Your data

The York Open Service Directory is published on an Open Service basis. This means two key things:

  • The information you have provided will be made available through a range of City of York Council and approved partner information channels. This includes providing information via telephone, post, fax, email, face-to-face and via the internet.
  • The information is published under an Open Government License. This gives users of the data the ability to copy, publish, distribute and  transmit the information, adapt the information, use the information commercially or non-commercially, for example by combining it with other information, or by including it in a product or application. City of York Council is unable to place additional conditions on users accessing the data via an Open Government License.

By completing the sign up process to the York Open Service Directory you are agreeing to your data being used in this way unless you tell us otherwise.

If for any reason you want to withdraw or change your consent at any time in the future you can do this by contacting York Family Information Service (details on the right hand side of this page).

Data Quality

You will ensure that you keep your information held in the York Open Service Directory up-to-date and accurate. There are a number of options available to you for keeping your information up to date.

Any updates you make will be “live” on the York Open Service Directory within 2 working days.

We reserve the right to amend your information so that it fits with the overall data quality framework of the York Open Service Directory.

Removal of information

You can request the removal of your information from the York Open Service Directory at any time. Please note that if the information has been reused under and Open Government License that this is outside of the data control of City of York Council.

City of York Council reserves the right to refuse listing or to remove services for any reason without notice. Examples of why services may be removed or not listed are:

  • Safeguarding concerns
  • Inaccurate or out-of-date information
  • Services that do not benefit the residents of York

If your service is removed or refused listing, we will send you notification by post or email to the last known contact details we have available.

Using data from the York Open Service Directory

The data in the York Open Service Directory is published under an Open Government License and the conditions of this license apply how you can use this data.
