Specialist Teaching Team (York)

Description

Our Specialist Teaching Team supports the inclusion of children and young people from birth to 25 years old with low incidence/high needs, with a range of special educational needs and or disabilities (SEND)
We offer support for children and young people and their families through provision of specialist assessment, advice, teaching and supporting and developing practice. Download a specialist teaching team referral form to get help.
A 'traded service' of specialist 'post 16 support' is also available for York College, Askham Bryan College, the University of York and the University of York St. Johns.
We have expertise in the following areas:
•deaf and hearing support
•vision support
•autism support
•physical disability health needs support, (including Limetrees Teaching Team and Hospital and Home teaching team)
We support children and young people and their families with 'My Support Plans' and Statemented/EHCP.
The Team works to the York Children and Young People’s Plan and is one part of a range of services from the Local Authority (LA) and other agencies - work with other agencies is very important in ensuring a co-ordinated approach to planning and delivery of services.
