York Music Service

Clifton, York

Learning a musical instrument not only teaches musical skills, it also helps develop commitment, confidence and teamwork. York Music Service will organise lessons in schools for young people and, for adults, we can arrange lessons at a venue that is suitable for you.

Instruments that we teach include: -
Strings: violin, viola, cello, double bass
Woodwind: flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, recorder
Brass: trumpet, cornet, horn, baritone, tenor horn, French horn, trombone, tuba
Percussion: drums, African drums
Voice: singing
Guitar: classical, acoustic, electric, bass
Keyboard: electronic keyboard, piano

For pupils in schools, lessons on piano and drum kit depend on these instruments being available to use.
You can choose to learn in a group or individually. Many beginners start in a small group and then move to individual lessons as their skills develop. All of our tutors are experienced, professional musicians in their own right, as well as being experienced teachers. Students may have the chance to take examinations through the Associated Board, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Rock School for an additional charge.
