According To McGee

Guildhall Ward, York

If your child loves art and learning new creative skills, this is the place to be.

Where: The Melbourne Centre, which is at the end of Escrick Street, behind Fishergate school, which is opposite Mecca Bingo. Post code is YO10 4AW. The art room is very spacious and if the weather holds up there is a playing field which allows for plenty of running around during break. There's also a car park at the end of the street, just outside Melbourne Centre, so you can take your time on the first morning.

What's included: The young artists will learn how to draw and paint a wide number of subject matters in a wide variety of mediums: charcoal, Indian ink, brusho ink, acrylic, pastels, and more. At the end of it is a sketchbook, a portfolio, a canvas masterpiece and an Arts Award at Discover or Explore levels or most of the Bronze (a percentage of a GCSE). These achievements look great on the CV and are nationally recognised qualifications.

Age range: No formal restrictions, but generally we work with young artists from the ages of 5 to 16.

Costs: The week costs £100.00 per child, it is Monday to Friday, (most school holidays) from 10 to 3:30pm. Single days are available at £22.00 each.
