Song Box is a local independent musical play activity with small friendly sessions for 0-4 year olds, and older families, with their mum, dad, or carer in many venues all over York including South Bank, Heslington, Tang Hall, Haxby and Acomb. Song Box session leaders play very creatively and responsively with the children and model how each activity can be enjoyed by everyone in their own way. The sessions are carefully structured to offer great benefits to children's all round development, (physical, social, emotional, language and cognitive). Song Box's founder, Thea Jacob MA(Oxon), also provides musical play sessions, outreach, inclusion and training for City of York Council and many other partner organisations. Song Box sessions are designed for mixed ages together, so siblings come to the same session, playing as families play naturally at home, all together and each at their own level.
The price is £5.10 per family,(not per child). There is also a concessionary rate of £2.50 for families with a low household income. Song Box welcomes all families, including cultural minorities, families with English as an additional language, and families with special needs.
As well as weekly sessions Song Box provides unique "Discovery sessions", for 0-11 year olds in school holidays. See the website for examples of the fun they get up to! facebook.com/SongBoxYork
